Setting up your BC Services Card (BCSC) app
Download the BCSC app to your phone, tablet or iPad.
Go through onboarding
1. Enabling analytics and notifications
Enable analytics to help improve the BCSC app and notifications to stay informed of any changes or service interruptions.
2. Secure the app
It protects your identity. For example, if you lose your phone or it's stolen.
There are 2 ways:
- Use the same security as your phone - like a passcode, fingerprint or Face ID
- Use a 6-digit PIN
Both are never shared with us and never leave your device.
We recommend you use a PIN if you sometimes remove the passcode from your phone.
3. Are you adding an additional device or is this your first device?
If you are new to the app then choose “No, continue setup”
Once it's set up, you can just scan a QR code to set it up on additional devices.
Verify your app
The app's verification process can be done either right away, or you can wait till you have more time. If you wait to verify the app, only certain features are usable:
- Wallet tab with test credentials
- Contacts
Everything else such as accessing services will require you to finish the verification process.

1. Scan or take photos of ID
Use your BC Services Card if you have one. It'll let you:
- Set up faster
- Verify your identity
- Access the most services

If you live in B.C. then you likely have a BC Services Card
It replaced the CareCard in 2013. Some people combine it with their driver's licence.
Not sure if you have one? Check if you have a BC Services Card
If your BC Services Card does not have a photo:
- You'll also need to provide photo ID
- Find out what photo ID is accepted
If you do not have a BC Services Card:
- You can provide 2 pieces of government-issued ID
- At least 1 of them must have a photo on it
- Find out what ID is accepted

2. Add residential address
If you provided a BC Services Card in step 1, your account will automatically use the address on your card.
Otherwise, enter the address of where you live in Canada.

3. Add email address
You need to verify your email address to:
- Prove you have access to the email account
- Confirm you entered your email address correctly
We'll only email you about your BC Services Card app and credentials.

Note: Providing your email address allows us to email you if there are issues with your BC Services Card app or credentials.

4. Choosing how to verify
You can choose:
- In-person
- Send a video
- Talk with a live Service BC agent
This is the final step in completing your verification.
If you're having trouble, check that:
- Your computer or mobile device is connected to the internet

- Android version 9.0 or newer

- The BC Services Card app on your mobile device is up to date
